Richard Ramsey

The Richard Ramsey Scholarship was created in memory of Mr. Ramsey, a Gretna High School teacher, many years ago and transferred to The Community Foundation in 2010. The Richard Ramsey Scholarship is awarded to the top graduates of Gretna High School.

Richard Crawford Ramsey was born in Charlottesville and taught with the Pittsylvania County Schools for many years. He was a member of Gretna Town Council for fifteen years, a member of Gretna Town Planning Commission, a member of the Board of Directors of the Pittsylvania County Red Cross, president of Gretna Jaycees, a graduate of Randolph Macon College, and a member of Trinity Episocopal Church. He died in 1996 at the age of 56.
