Richard Ramsey
The Richard Ramsey Scholarship was created many years ago in memory of Mr. Ramsey, a Gretna High School teacher, and transferred to The Community Foundation in 2010. This scholarship benefits top graduates of Gretna High School.
Richard Crawford Ramsey was born in Charlottesville and taught with Pittsylvania County Schools for many years. He was a member of Gretna Town Council for fifteen years, a member of Gretna Town Planning Commission, a member of the Board of Directors of the Pittsylvania County Red Cross, president of Gretna Jaycees, a graduate of Randolph Macon College, and a member of Trinity Episocopal Church. He died in 1996 at the age of 56.
