Doug and Mickey Hayes
Doug Hayes wanted to create a scholarship honoring his wife, Mickey, who had a love of art from an early age. After her retirement in 1985, she began taking art classes. She is known for her work with flowers, which was inspired by her flower garden. She is quoted saying “There is so much of God’s beauty in this world and I can show it in my humble way by painting that which I love, my flowers.” In later years she taught watercolor classes in her studio and many of her “creations” can be found in businesses and private collections across the country and abroad.
